Tattoo care: how to properly care for a new tattoo
Your new tattoo is a work of art that requires proper care to look its best. The care of your tattoo can vary depending on its location and style. A small outline tattoo needs different care than a large inked area. But don't worry, they will always provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your new tattoo. However, if you are unsure, here are simple and easy to understand care rules to help you.
Tips on how to care for a fresh tattoo:
Protective film: when the tattoo is finished, cover the area with protective film. Leave it in place until the evening, ideally over the first night.
Cleaning: After removing the foil, wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap or special foam, and rinse with lukewarm water. Dry with a clean towel and leave to dry for 10-15 minutes.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo care cream. After another 10 minutes, wipe the area with a clean napkin to remove excess grease and allow the skin to breathe.
Daily routine: for the first week, care for the tattoo twice a day, morning and evening. Later, once a day is sufficient.
Protection from attachment: Freshly tattooed skin may secrete tissue fluid. If it sticks to clothing, do not tear it off, but soak it in clean water to avoid damaging the tattoo.
Healing: after a few days, scales may form on the tattooed area. Do not remove them, you could tear off part of the tattoo with them.
Swimming and showering: avoid swimming in a pool or outdoor waters for the first two weeks. Shower instead.
Protection from dirt: For two weeks after the tattoo, protect the area from dirt and irritation.
Sun and tanning: Do not expose the tattoo to sunlight or tanning beds for at least a month.
